Photographs Memoir of a `Living ' Legend !
This book captures the essence of Filmore East ( NYC ) days, a labour of love;love of an era thats ends. The Amalie Rothschild`s pictures ( in color and in Black & White ) are great, and was taken from all angles of the auditorium ,tickets sales, public, backstages, lobby, artists ( Miles Davis,Mountain ,The Who, Neil Young & Crazy Horse,Grateful Dead,Santana,Quicksilver Message Service among other ). The chapter `Theater of Light : The Joshua Light Show 'is very interesting and detailed, showing the slides projectors and the light`s show liquid oil and glicerine bottles used with diferents colors or viscosities to produce the `psichedelic' visual like bubbles, kaleidoscopes and mystic symbols.A psichedelic trademark.
An incridible photo of the last day concert with roses in each seat.June 27,1971- `Thank You And Farewell' was writed in the marquee after the last show with Allman Brothers Band,Moby Grape,J Geils Band,Mountain among others.
In the page 141 are include a list of all shows at Filmore East march 8,1968 throught June 27,1971.
Today ! 2001, in the place that was The Filmore East are the `Emigrant Savings Bank ' and the front bricks ( upper side) are the same,a `living organism' there, full of memories like us.

Total Time Machine
Wow! I worked in this place for 2 plus years and didn't know half this stuff. Great therapy for all those fading brain cells. Left me with a smile on my face and music in my heart.

Fillmore East Memoir - A Triumph!
New York's rock, blues, and yes, jazz shrine of music culture during the late 1960's and early 1970's has finaly been been given it's due thanks to Ms. Rothschild. We the faithful, who for the most part never knew the secrets of the venue and it's most powerful accoutrements, Lights & Sound, are now sated. Special thanks must go to Stacy Kreutzman and her fine publishing company for another glorius volume. Everything we always wanted to know about the venue is here wonderfully remembered in word and photo. You mean the Light Show was behind the stage! And, that "Exit sign" was the passageway backstage were the real fun was! Ms.Rothschild walks us through the place and it's inner workings taking special care to show and explain just how Joshua's Lights worked its magic. Her live concert photos are revelatory, especially that Holy Grail photo of the Dead, Fleetwood Mac and the Allman's onstage for their incredible, once in a lifetime jam. The photos of the outer lobby and ticket window took me instantly back to the place; and the memories lost for 30 years started flooding back. The uninitiated will love the book for its stunning photos of Miles, Jimi, and Duane, just to mention a few. The archivists will love the book for it's [apparently] thoroughly updated chronology of concerts. I love it all, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

The Twelve Powers
Published in Hardcover by Unity (May, 1999)
Authors: Charles Fillmore and Cora Fillmore
Average review score:

Recommended for the more advanced metaphysical seeker
I do have to give this book five stars because of it's powerful teachings of basic metaphysical principles. I do, though, highly recommend reading the two books concurrently. As much as I admire Charles Fillmore, his book isn't the easiest reading for one new to metaphysics. Also, one probably won't agree with all his teachings. He had beliefs in immortality in the body, in regeneration, and concerning sexuality which many will disagree with, which is all right. This material must be read with an open mind, and with a discerning mind which can discard that which one has difficulty with while retaining that which is relevant.

12 Powers
After reading the 12 powers, I created my own affirmations to support my daily prayers to strengthen these powers. This book is thought provoking, when reading Charles' section, and can be put to practical use via meditation, when reading Cora's section. Since there are two books in one, this is a real bargain. If you can't read the whole book, make sure you read the last chapter when all the powers are placed in a single excercise. You will appreciate the knowledge gained from "faith and understanding.." to "..wisdom and renuciation". Learn how to manage and express the 12 powers and bring them into spiritual reality.

Oh my God. I know you like never before.
I have been a heathen, Did not study the bible as I should. Went to Catholic school but have never read such a powerful, easy to understand book in all of my short life. Truly inspiring. I will read I over and over again.

Millard Fillmore
Published in Hardcover by McFarland & Company (January, 2001)
Author: Robert J. Scarry

Millard Fillmore - Robert J. Scarry
Robert Scarry was a retired history teacher and town and village historian for Moravia, New York. Scarry's own study of Fillmore spanded several decades. In this work, Mr. Scarry has probably created the definative work on our country's thirteenth president.

Robert Scarry has shown that much of what is commonly held to be true of Millard Fillmore is not. His earlier work (1965) on Fillmore was a small booklet that underwent several printings. Now, in his book, Millard Fillmore, Scarry has presented new material that stands even some of his earlier research on its head.

As a much-misunderstood figure in American history, Fillmore has both received blame for that which he should not be held to account for and not enough credit for the his overlooked or forgotten successes during his pre-civil war presidency.

Civil War period buffs and anyone intersted in the early days of our country and the presidentcy should get this book.

An Excellent and Thorough Biography
Historians have relegated Millard Fillmore to virtual obscurity. This biography, however, attempts to improve his image as a strong, effective, chief executive. The author traces Fillmore's lineage, childhood, law career, Congressional years, and presidency.

The author argues that Fillmore based his presidency on nationalism, Constitutional principles, and laissez-faire economy. Although opposed to slavery, Fillmore supported the Fugitive Slave Law as a compromise to avert Civil War. He supported the Compromise of 1850 that submitted California as a free state. To promote economic growth, he endorsed a moderate 20% tariff. He also appealed for the Transcontinental Railroad. According to the author, he strongly handled the Texas-New Mexico dispute. Fillmore advocated neutrality in foreign affairs with moderate diplomacy.

This book adroitly recognizes Millard Fillmore's accomplishments in an intelligent manner. The book has many interesting anecdotes and quotes that greatly embellish the narrative. For example, Fillmore's writings demonstrate an adherence to Constitutional principles, nationalism, and favorite foods, stand on slavery, and political ideology.

This book includes illustrations and thorough footnoting. The chronological format adds to my reading enjoyment. The appendix includes letters and notes at the end to supplement the text. An excellent bibliography gives the reader a list of books for further exploration. The book also includes a useful Millard Fillmore chronology about important dates and events. The lucid prose adds cogency in perhaps a too sympathetic biography.

A Companion to the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary
For the metaphysical Bible student, two books are essential: Unity's Metaphysical Bible Dictionary and The Revealing Word. Whereas the Dictionary gives the metaphysical meaning of the names and geographical locations in the Bible, The Revealing Word provides the metaphysical meaning for concepts, words, animals, characteristics, and objects. It is an invaluable companion to the Dictionary. Want to get excited over the Bible? Purchase these two books and settle in for years of fascinating study. Ministers, these are excellent resources for adding depth to your sermons. The Scriptures come alive in ways not afforded by the traditional surface exegesis!

as a result of over twenty years of close examination
I would like to know if the book "Metaphysical Bible Dictionary by Charles Fillmore exist in French version?? Please..help me!

Christian Healing
Published in Paperback by Mandrake Press (November, 1993)
Author: Charles Fillmore
Average review score:

The first Unity book
Christian Healing was the first Unity book published by Charles Fillmore in 1909, which means that almost a century passed since it came out of print. And it still touches people's hearts with its message!

Many people in our days write on spiritual principles of healing and wholeness, and yet I recommend this classical book. Indeed, there is nothing new about spiritual healing. It was successfully practiced by Jesus and His immediate followers, who realized their authority over the natural elements. His healing secrets were re-discovered in XIX century, and Fillmores were among the pioneers of this new healing movement. Their convictions were supported by their experiences - both Charles and Myrtle Fillmore healed themselves and many others through the power of faith. The principles of wholeness that they found are still the same, and they will prove to be an effective remedy for all those who will discover and apply them.

I was the one who translated this book into Russian and published it on the web.

Parker Fillmore? You'll want this book!
Parker Fillmore may be best known for his collection of stories called The Shepherd's Nosegay, but these Czech, Moravian and Slovak Folktales, which were originally published in 1919, are wonderfully detailed, full-fledged stories. In the first story, a prince sees pictures of 12 princesses and decides to search for the one he considers the most beautiful of all. He chooses friends along the way who can help him: a tall man who can stretch to enormous distances, a round man who can widen himself, a man with such keen sight he must keep his eyes bandaged. The four friends must guard the princess for three nights; if she escapes they will be turned to stone. Cleverly, the friends find the princess each time she disappears. She eventually is freed and the prince marries her. The three helpers go into the world to look for fresh challenges. In another story a King learns that a charcoal burner's son will marry his daughter. Though the King does all he can to avoid having this happen, Fate makes it happen after all. In still another story, a seer protects the king and does not allow anything to defeat him. In "The Three Citrons" the prince finds three princesses closed in three citrons, but he loses the first two since he has no food or drink for them. The third citron is opened when there is food and drink. When he has to go to war, his wife faces dangers and is turned into a dove, but is found and recognized when the prince returns. And so it goes. Fifteen stories are included in this marvelous collection.

Yo Millard Fillmore! and All Those Other Presidents You Don't Know: (And All Those Other Presidents You Don't Know)
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Will Cleveland, Tate Nation, and Mark Alvarez

Within 30 minutes, I knew all the U.S. Presidents by heart
Wonderful, silly book which will teach you the U.S. Presidents, in order, in 30 minutes. The book has a story which incorporates word associations for every president as well as some quizzes to help you memorize them. Also, has a short biography on every president. Great book for all ages.

It worked for me!
My 10 year old sister was given this book as a gift. I'm pretty good at history, so I thought learning all the presidents in order would be really cool. I read the book for 20 or 30 minutes, took the quizes, and by the time I was done I could name all the presidents in order, and backwords. The book also gives you clues to help remember the 5,10,15,20,25,30,35, and 40th presidents.

It really works!
When I picked up this book and saw that it claimed to enable anyone to memorize the Presidents in 20 minutes, I said, "Yeah, right." But I gave it a try and it works! I really did learn the Presidents in 20 minutes (not any less). It works by means of cartoons and key words that are similar to the President's name and connect the cartoons to that President (ex: money rowing for Monroe). The cartoons are funny and all link together. This is a great book; you should try it.

Millard Fillmore: Biography of a President
Published in Hardcover by American Political Biography Press (April, 1992)
Authors: Robert J. Raybach, Robert J. Rayback, and Katherine E. Speirs
Average review score:

Millard Fillmore: A President Redeemed
History has portrayed Millard Fillmore as a weak and pompous president; when instead 'he possessed extraordinary strength of character and an enviable tenacity of purpose --as well as an admirable personality.' The cause for this discrepancy is because most history books have been based on the reports of his enemies, most notably Thurlow Weed and William Seward. Fillmore, who assumed the presidency upon Zachary Taylor's unexpected death, rose above factional politics, allayed sectional strife by promoting the Compromise of 1850 and was a respectable, if at times indecisive, president.

Good Portrait of a Forgotten President
Serving only two and a half years as president, it is not surprising that Millard Fillmore has been given short shrift among historians. This book helps history rediscover the importance of Fillmore's brief tenure. Fillmore assumed office with the country in turmoil over the question of extending slavery to the territories acquired after the war with Mexico. His predecessor, President Taylor, was presumably on an course which would have led to civil war in 1850. Fillmore carefully guided the country toward compromise and away from war. Although his enemies argue that there should be no compromise with slavery, Fillmore's prudent, but politically unpopular stance did preserve the union. Unfortunately, future presidents did not follow Fillmore's example and the country was split in two as a result of uncompromising sectionalism. This book is an excellent study of both President Fillmore and the rise and fall of the Whig Party. The book traces Fillmore's career along with the founding of the Whig party in New York as a protest again the secret organization of the Masonic Lodge, to the accession of a Whig president, to the party's degeneration into a nativist, secret organization of "Know-Nothings."

Excellent primer on 19th century American politics
A wonderfu read for anyone interested in the Republican Party. Fillmore's political life was tied to the rise and fall of the Whig Party and the subsequent replacement by the Republican Party. The reader will discover that the role of the daily newspaper when reporting about politics has not changed since its inception.
